My name is Priya Chauhan and I am a first year from San Diego, California. I am a Economics and Accounting pre-major; however, I have no idea if I actually want to stick with it because I change my mind so often. I was born and raised in San Diego and have never lived too far from the beach. I come from a gregarious family who are all very big on football. My dad likes to tease me by saying he “failed as a parent” because of my lack of passion for the sport. However instead of football, I developed a passion for dancing. I have danced and performed in competitions for 14 years. I have done various types of dancing, ranging from Indian classical to ballet. While I was in high school, I continued dance but also ventured out into other activities such as water polo, volunteering at the hospital and yearbook. Yearbook became by favorite activity because it was my creative outlet—where I got to see my imagination come to life. I blame yearbook starting my obsession with Pinterest! During my spare time, I love to go hiking and adventuring new places with my friends. During the summer, I would make an effort to go on a different hike at least twice a week. At the moment, I am loving it here at UCSB! I hope the next couple years will be filled with exciting adventures because if you're never young and stupid, you’ll never get a chance to be old and wise.
